Hanna Hansdotter (b. 1984) is a Swedish artist specialising in glass. She holds a BFA from Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, Sweden (2017), and received her glass-blowing qualifications from Kosta Glass Center, Sweden, in 2010.
Hansdotter is based in a region of Sweden dubbed Glasriket (Glass country), and her work is a contemporary take on a centuries-old tradition of glass blowing in the district. She blows molten glass into specially moulded iron frameworks, where the glass is then left to settle into varying and unexpected shapes. The result is decadently voluptuous, sensual sculptures where even each editioned work is unique. Using industrial production methods guided by artistic intentions, her practice sits at the nexus between craft and mass production.
Selected solo exhibitions include; 'Rabbit Hole' at Kalmar Konstmuseum in Sweden (2021); 'Ornamental Abstractions Of Industrial Memories' at Ronneby Kulturcentrum in Sweden (2020); 'Fading Prints' at Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde in Sweden (2020). Recent group exhibitions and art fairs include: 'Enter Art Fair' at The Hole in Denmark (2022); 'The Collection' at Gävle Konstcentrum in Sweden (2022); 'Once Twice' at The Hole in New York (2021); Design Miami, Side Gallery, Basel (2021); Market Art Fair, Steinsland Berliner, Stockholm, Sweden (2021).
Hansdotter’s work is represented in the permanent collection of Sweden’s National Museum of Fine Arts, Stockholm, the Röhsska Museum of Design and Craft, Gothenburg, and the collection of The Public Art Agency Sweden.
